Patch Work Kisses
Kaitlyn watched as the bus yet again took off without her. She would be late yet again and her boss would be pissed. She had gotten up 30 minutes early this time. It seemed as if she could never win. “Damnit all !” She decided since she was already late she would just go ahead and have breakfast. She walked nearby to the local diner where everyone knew her. “Hey Katey! missed the bus again?” Donna her fave waitress chided. “Yes, I did, it never fails Donna. I have to buy a car.”
“I can give you a ride.” Said an unfamiliar voice.
Kaitlyn’s eyes scanned the small diner who had said that? She spoke that question now. “Who said that.”
“I did.” She found him then, a handsome guy with glasses and a faded gray shirt.
“I appreciate that , but haven’t you hear that old saying, don’t take rides or talk to strangers.” She grinned. He was really cute and she blushed.
“Ah he’s okay Katie, I can attest to that.” Donna said with a smile pouring coffee into an old ladies waiting cup.
“Why don’t you finish your breakfast and I’ll take you. I have the day off.” He insisted.
Kaitlyn thought about this, she had been late twice this week. “Okay, thanks it’s near the mall okay?” She sipped her diet coke greedily. Her mind began to romantisize this situation. She imagined kissing him.
She could barely taste her egg white omlette and she hurried and paid the bill. “He’s so cute.” Donna whispered.
She paid the bill leaving her usual four dollar tip and followed the tall, cute guy outside. He had a nice little golden volvo.
“Ah I love this car, it’s like the one Edward had in Twilight.” She said blushing.
“Edward who?” He asked opening the car door for her.
“He’s a vampire….” She started.
“I wouldn’t know.” He started the car as she buckled up. The car smelled knew and manly. She looked at him he was very handsome with a tan complexion and brown eyes he had long fingers that gripped the steering wheel.
“I Keep missing the bus its my sucky luck. She pouted.
He turned on his cd player and a strange language cd started.
“I’m learning cantonese.” He said. He looked at her at the redlight.
“Yeah? How come?” She also liked to dabble in languages it depended on who she had an online crush with at the moment.
“Well, my neighbor is elderly and he keeps having some health problems and I just figured since he is from China, it would help if I could talk to him if he needs help again.” He smiled
“Oh that is so good of you!” She cheered.
“Well, his daughter is seldom around and I had to take him last time in the ambulance he got sick so I figured what the hell figure out a few words and phrases to calm him down and also to find out what hurts him so I could tell the doctor. He’s kinda special to me.” They pull up to the mall and She realizes she hasn’t asked his name.
“What is your name by the way?” She is flustered as she stands outside the open car door.
“Jeremy.” He says and waves. She is stills aying thank you when he pulls away.
Kaitlyn is at work and her mind is on the guy who drove her there. Why hadn’t she ever seen him before in the small neighborhood of sunflower street? She wanted to see him again, but she wasn’t good at dating. He was so handsome though.
“Hey Kaitlyn, you need to wake up girl do you need a coffee?” Her co-worker Madison was pushing a cup of coffee towards her.
“yeah I guess. You know what? I met this cute guy today he dropped me off at work.” She said day dreaming.
“Well, that is really great who is he?” Madison plopped down in the chair next to Kaitlyn “Come on tell me…tell me…”
“I missed the bus again.” She says
“AGAIN!” Madison echoes…
“Yes. I went to the diner and I told Donna who works there I missed the bus and she told me this guy she knew could drop me off. When I saw him I just thought, my God he is cute.” She shook her head. “I wish I had a chance with him, but I give up girl.” She ran a hand through her short dyed black hair.
“Why don’t you think you have a chance Kaitlyn, you are pretty.” Madison insisted.
“Well, I don’t know Madison, I mean lets look at my track record. They laugh and then both girls go their own ways to do thier jobs at the small town news paper. Kaitlyn decides she will interview Jeremy about learning his neighbor’s language as a way to help him out.
At the diner Kaitly grabs Donna’s arm like a drowning man grabs a life boat passing by. “Donna, tell me about Jeremy.” She is gushing and Donna hands her a menu.
“Well, he’s new here been here about two months, nice guy.He brings Mr. Wong in here once a week for pie and coffee.”
“Ah…” She said.
“Don’t be shy Kaitlyn.” Donna walks away and Kaitlyn stares at the menu she didn’t come here toe at.
Jeremy saw her standing oat the counter of the smile diner. She was pretty and had asked him to come over to the diner so she could interview him about his special friendship with is neighbor.
