Cameos

Feb. 3rd 2010

Have you ever seen the beautiful woman in the pendant? She looks so lovely. I ran my then tiny fingers on the shell made maiden that was resting on top of the cameo my grandfather had given me. I was five years old and I had never seen a prettier thing in my life. I began to collect cameos then and sadly I never got to TBC

Shabby CHIC Girls…..

Feb. 3rd 2010

I love Shabby Chic, let me look now if I can find a definition for shabby shabby chic..Description

Shabby chic items are often heavily painted with many layers showing through obviously worn areas. The style is imitated in faux painting using glaze or by painting then rubbing and sanding away the top coat to show the wood or base coats. Fabrics tend to be cottons and linens, with linen being particularly popular, inspired by old French linens. Whites and worn or bleached out pastels are favorite colours. Fabric is often stained with tea to give it the look of old fabric. Bleached and faded are terms often applied to the style.
The essence of shabby chic style is vintage and antique furniture painted white (or another soft pastel color) and distressed at the corners by sanding.
Popular decor items are pillows made of vintage barkcloth fabric, vintage linens, chenille bedspreads, vintage chandeliers, and anything with roses on it. It is a soft, relaxed feminine romantic way of decorating that looks comfortable and inviting. Also called cottage style.YES ! Thats it..I love it ! I love pink roses, lacy doilies, pink cushions, old cabinets, romantic tea cups on an old white painted table. I would love to have a small cottage to decorate in the shabby chic style. I like a place that is both romantic and comfortable. Lots of pink, soft colors, mint green, cabbage roses and old painting on the wall. A soft bed with iron bed posts these are all whispering Shabby Chic. Below you will find some resources for Shabby Chic decor..

MY Distance Story

Feb. 3rd 2010

Im sure many of you wonder about what it would be like if you could meet the person you met online. I guess its time to come clean alot about what DIS is about is about ONLINE love. When my blog was first built I was very much in love with my friend Moudi in Algeria, and I still am, so much has changed and I still haven’t been able to meet him. Now he doesn’t say he is in love with me anymore, but we still talk. I still care. I hate the distance that has kept us from seeing if we have that something special offline as much as we do online and on the phone. When we were putting Dis together, we had dreams of couples meeting on our friendship site and getting advertisers from travel agencies and promote couples dissing the distance. Its very hard when the person we love is far away but thanks to the internet and phone we can DIS some distance :) Margo
